Memorial service for Gladys Mae Boone will be held at 1 p.m. September 19 at Fouts Funeral Home in Woodbine.
Rev. Steve Wiemeyer will serve as clergy. Musicians will be Margaret Cotton and Kate Boone.
Gladys Mae Boone was born on January 2, 1912, in Woodbine, to Merrittand and Esther (Rasmussen) Madison. Gladys grew up on a farm near Woodbine and later moved to Council Bluffs, where she attended and graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School, in 1930. She worked in a clerical position with a moving company and then as an insurance office clerk in Omaha, Nebraska. Gladys was joined in marriage with John Boone on Febru-ary 20, 1936. The couple settled near Wood-bine, eventually buying a farm and raising their family. John died on February 11, 1989, after 53 years of marriage.
Gladys died on August 30, in Keizer, Oregon, at the age of 97 years, seven months and 28 days.
Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Boone; and brother and sister-in-law, Roland and Eunice Madison. Gladys is survived by her two sons, Milton Boone and his wife Ella of Salem, Oregon, Doug Boone and his wife Christine of Kalamazoo, Michigan; four grandchildren, Jim Boone and his wife Cheryl, Scott Boone and his wife Rebecca, Ed Boone and Kate Boone; two great-grand-children, Devon Boone and Heather Boone; and many other relatives and friends.
Final resting place will be Woodbine Cemetery in Woodbine.
Fouts Funeral Home in Woodbine is in charge of the arrangements.
