YEMASSEE – Thomas Eugene Drew, Jr., 48, died at 4:30 p.m. Thursday in the Beaufort County Hospital after an illness of a few minutes.
He was born in Colleton County, a son of the late Thomas E. Drew of Colleton County and Bessie Wright Drew of Greenville.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Alice McTeer Drew; stepmother, Mrs. T.E. Drew, Sr. of Charleston; two sons, Thomas E. Drew, of the U.S. Navy in San Francisco, Calif., and Samuel Edwin Drew of Yemassee; three brothers, Sylvester of Jacksonboro, J. Cauthen of Walterboro and Thomas V. Drew of St. Stephen, and three sisters, Mrs. J.M. King of Ft. Pierce, Fla., Mrs. A.S. Rogers of Walterboro and Mrs. Frank Meyer of Charleston.
Mr. Drew was a member of the Ebenezer Methodist Church at Yemassee and was a steward. He was superintendent of the Castle Hill Plantation.
