Pernertha ( born 1822) was the daughter of Caleb A. Lawrence and Piety Lawrence.

Her mother is not to be confused with her sister Piety Lawrence (FindAGrave memorial 154269832) , who was born in 1818 and married Hezekiah E. Whitworth. They are buried at Center Grove United Methodist Church, along with Pernertha, James H Brown and many of the Brown children.

Further, her father's name is not to be confused with Pernertha's brother Caleb A. Lawrence (FindAGrave memorial ID 28348545) who was born in 1820 and married Aditha A Martin. They are buried nearby at Hillsdale Primitive Baptist Church. Their daughter, Mary Rebecca (Mollie) Lawrence was the second wife to her cousin Henry Clay Brown, who was Pernertha and James H. Brown eldest son! Mary Rebecca and Henry Clay Brown are both also buried at Hillsdale Primitive Baptist church as are her parents.

Pernertha married first Levi Ross on December 7, 1840. They had one child named Louisa Elizabeth born in 1841. After Levi Ross died in 1842 (the circumstances of his death and burial place are unknown), Pernertha married James H. Brown. James H. Brown became the Guardian for Elizabeth and many records are available regarding that. Elizabeth married Asa Wilson 4 Feb. 1857 and has one child, Sarah, in the 1860 Guilford Census. At this time we cannot find further records regarding Elizabeth or Asa and their daughter Sarah.

After birthing seven children with James H Brown, Pernertha died less than one month after Angeline was born. Then Angeline died 4 months later. In total three of their seven children died in infancy and are all buried in Center United Methodist Cemetery.
