Service: 2 p.m. Monday at Thompson's Harveson & Cole Funeral Home. Interment: 3:30 p.m. in Aledo Brown Cemetery. Visitation: 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Sara was born Aug. 29, 1923, in Fort Worth, daughter of the late Nicholas Alvin and Margie Elizabeth Acuff. She attended Polytechnic High School and Texas Christian University. Sara was an accomplished singer and was the featured performer at many events during her youth. A highlight was singing with Artie Shaw and other big bands when they came to Fort Worth.
Sara married Robert Burke and they had one daughter. She was an accountant and worked for her brother at a subsidiary of Curtis Publishing Co. for many years before returning to oil and gas accounting, where she worked for several companies, including Wiseda Corp., prior to her retirement. In later years, she enjoyed family, gardening and watching "Dancing with the Stars,"
"America's Got Talent" and ballroom dancing competitions.
Sara's family would like to give special thanks to the staffs at HCR Heartland of Bedford and American Hospice for the care they provided Sara in her final days.
In addition to her parents, Sara was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Paul Burke; and siblings, Eldon and Merle, Noble and Bernice, and Adrian Acuff.
Survivors: Her daughter, Elizabeth and her husband, Raymond Hughes, of Fort Worth; grandchildren, Alysha and Michael Hughes of Fort Worth and U.S. Marine Corps Cpl R. Eric Hughes of Marietta, Ga.; great-grandchild, Jorgen Matthew Warner of Orem, Utah; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
