Robert Meyers Basinger

Robert Meyers Basinger was born August 11, 1855, in Bates county, Mo., and died at his home near Long Lane at 6:30 a.m., Nov. 11, 1937, at the age of 82 years and 3 months.

On March 14, 1878 he was united in marriage to Nancy Jane Todd. To this union were born 10 children, 5 girls and 5 boys. Three preceded him in death. He is survived by his companion, 7 children, 21 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren. The children living are: Mrs. Dave Wilhoite, Claremore, Okla.; Mrs. Claude Bennett, Long Lane, Mo.; Mrs. Harry Griffin, Visalia, Calif.; Fred Basinger, Long Lane, Mo.; Elbert Bassinger, Kansas City, Kan.; Mrs. Chas. Woods, Breckenridge, Texas; and Herbert Basinger, Kansas City, Mo. All the children were present except Mrs. Harry Griffin.

He was united with the church at the age of 23, and continued in the faith until death.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the home by Rev. Homer King. Burial was at Pisgah cemetery under direction of L. B. Jones.
