Lucille Jennings, 79, of rural Columbus Junction, died Saturday, March 27, 2010, at her home.

Funeral services will be Saturday, April 3, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Columbus Junction. Visitation for Lucille will be held from 2:00-3:00 p.m. Saturday, April 3rd at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Columbus Junction. Burial will be in Fulton Cemetery near Cairo, Iowa. Casket bearers will be Bernie Laue, Bill Finley, Bill Dahl, Eric Samuels, Steven Laue and Tim White. A memorial has been established for the Winfield Public Library in Lucille's name.

Lucille Marcella Laue was born July 17, 1930 in Burlington, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Gertrude (Meller) Laue. She was a 2-year graduate from Iowa Wesleyan College and taught in a country school for 3 years. On June 26, 1954 Lucille was united in marriage to Monroe Jennings in Burlington. She was a homemaker and farmed with her husband. She also had worked at Iowa Instrument Company.

Lucille was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Wapello and then St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Columbus Junction. She enjoyed gardening, especially growing blooming flowers, sewing, traveling, cooking and reading history books.

Lucille will be dearly missed by her son, David Jennings of rural Columbus Junction; her sister, Pat White of Springdale, Arkansas; her brother, Delbert Laue of Burlington; and many nieces and nephews.

Lucille was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Monroe in July 2008; two brothers, Floyd and Francis Laue; and one sister, Marceline Samuels.
