Vienna was born Vienna FLINK. With her sister Regina, she was adopted by William Henry HUFFORD and his first wife, Sarah E. SHROYER.

In 1910, Vienna and her sister Regina were living in the Orphans Home in Center Township, Delaware County, Indiana. Her adoptive mother died in 1918.

In January 1920, Vienna and her sister Regina were living in Washington Township, Pike County, Indiana, with their adoptive father (William H. HUFFORD), his second wife (Gertrude), and their three-month-old son. Also in the household was Roberta Hufford (4). On the 1920 census, all three girls were listed as the daughters of William H. Hufford. Roberta was actually Roberta BURTON; she was the daughter of William Hufford's wife Gertrude and Gertrude's 1st husband.

It is not known who were the parents of Vienna and her sister Regina, but there is a likely couple: Charles Erik FLINK and his wife Hulda Mary, a married couple. They were born in Finland. Hulda died of pulmonary tuberculosis on Christmas Eve, 1909, in Muncie, Indiana. In 1910, Charles was widowed and working in Delaware County, IN. Hulda was born in 1884, and her husband was born in about 1884.
