Mr. Peek was injured in a traffic accident July 11, one mile southeast of Sullivan. He was a passenger in an auto which crashed in a creek at a spot where a curve precedes a narrow bridge.
He was first taken to St. Mary's Hospital, Decatur, where he was admitted to the intensive care unit, later moved to a room, then transferred Thursday, July 18, to Pana Community Hospital, and Sunday, July 21, to St. Luke's Hospital. Late Sunday night he submitted to surgery.
Rolla Peek was born in Shelby County June 12, 1943, a son of Mable Randol Reid of Pana and the late Rolla J. Peek. He was married Aug. 6, 1966 in Pana to Barbara Bilbruck. She survives. Mr. Peek was a welder.
Surviving besides his wife and mother are a daughter, Robin Helene, at home; a son, Rolla J. jr., and a daughter, Karla Lee, both of Kankakee; sisters, Mrs. Sheron Alderson, Mt. Zion; Mrs. Dorothy Durbin, Decatur; Mrs. Virginia Cole, Tonica; Mrs. Merilyn Branch, Pana; and his stepfather, Sidney Reid, Pana.
Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, July 25, in McCracken Funeral Home, Pana. Burial was in Linwood Cemetery.
