George Patterson Moore is the son of Benjamin B. Moore and Sarah (Randol) Moore. He served in the Civil War on the Union side. He Enlisted in Company G, Iowa 8th Infantry Regiment on 19 April 1864. George participated in the siege of Vicksburg, and the battles of Champion Hill, Jackson, Miss., Raymond, Lookout Mountain, and Port Gibson (according to his obituary). He was also with Sherman on his march to the sea. He mustered out on 20 April 1866 at Selma, AL. George was an active member of the Cornforth Grand Army of the Republic, being officer of the guard at the time of his death. He married Mary Agnes Lockridge on the 31 December 1866 in Marengo, Iowa, Iowa.

George and Mary had eight children, all daughters. One daughter died at a young age (Nellie Moore died at the age of two years old). The following are the children of George and Mary Moore:

He also lived in Clyde, Cloud, Kansas for most of his married life, until the time of his death. He died on a Sunday morning, June 22, 1890 at 5 o'clock. He was 46 years, 2 months, and 24 days old.
