Alfred Mickelson Died Tuesday
Succumbs After Operation Following Brief Illness...
Alfred Mickelson, second son of Martin Mickelson, passed away Tuesday morning of this week at the local hospital, where he submitted to an operation the day before for appendicitis and adhesions, very little hope having been entertained for his recovery.
Deceased became ill at the lake on Saturday where he and his brother Nels were fishing and complained repeatedly of intense pains in the abdomen. They stayed at the lake Saturday night and Sunday morning came to the hospital for treatment. His ailment was immediately diagnosed as a serious case of appendicitis and Dr. Bolsta, of Ortonville was called in to assist in the operation, which took place Monday about noon. During the operation a very bad condition was found, his trouble being of long standing, and it is doubted that very little hopes were entertained that he would recover. He died Tuesday morning about seven o'clock.
Deceased was a fine young man, a loyal friend and neighbor and none speak but good words for him. He was born in Springdale township on October 17, 1885, and would soon have been thirty-six years of age. His entire life was lived herewith the exception of a short time he spent in Canada, and all of the old timers have known him since childhood. He is survived by his farther Martin Mickelson, his brothers Nels, Oscar, Tom and Joe, and sister, Mrs. Howard Hanson, all living here.
The funeral was held yesterday from the Lutheran church there being a very large attendance and the services conducted by Rev. Nerison. The remains were buried in Bo cemetery in Springdale township.
Relatives of the deceased have the sympathy of the community in their loss.
