Barney Blackburn was born in Egypt, Ok. He attended school in OK and helped his mother with the farm, and the store. He came from Oklahoma to the Bellview area of Curry County, NM in 1915 with his mother Penelope Holland Blackburn, sister Della and brother, Victor. They joined his oldest brother, Claude who had previously homesteaded in the area. He attended the Boney School. He married Zona Bunch August 7, 1926 in Clovis and they lived continuously in the Bellview area the remainder of their lives. He was a farmer/rancher, raising wheat, cattle and hogs and had milk cows. He and Zona drove a school bus to Old Bellview, Rosedale and Grady for many years.. He received an award in 1962 for 26 accident free years driving a school bus. He was a long time member of the Odd Fellows Lodge and was instrumental in the formation of the Curry County 42 League. He loved to fish and play 42. He died following a lengthy illness in the hospital in Amarillo, TX. Their children were Austin, J.M., Lucille Paul, CJ
