Jehiel R. Craig Sr., was born in Wheeling West Virginia, April 30 1836 and passed away at his home west of town, May 11, 1916. When a child he removed from West Virginia, with his parents, to Illinois.
He enlisted at the beginning of the war of the Rebellion* on Company "D"Sixth Illinois cavalry and served with distinction until the close of the war.
He married [on] February 14, 1866 to Sallie F. McClure of McClainsboro*, Illinois. They came to [the] Oklahoma Territory, in July 1889, and have resided in, and near, Guthrie, since that time.
A wife, and five children, are left to morn the loss of a loving husband and father. Mr. Craig was respected by a large circle of fiends.
The funeral services were conducted at the home west of Guthrie [on] Saturday May 13, by Rev. Guy H. Findly, pastor of the First Christian Church, assisted by S. Teague. Internment was made at the Summit View Cemetery on North Pine, in Guthrie.
