Charley R. Baker, 70, Rt. 1, Huntsville, died Sunday morning, January 19, in the Madison County Hospital following an extended illness.

Born August 29, 1904 in Huntsville, the son of Cora Fritts and William Franklin Baker, he was an employee of the Arkansas State Highway Department for thirty five years.

Survivors include his widow, Opal McCarver Baker, to who he was married June 15, 1929; one son, Charles (Sonny) Baker, La Mirada, California; one daughter, Mrs. L. D. (JoAnn) Dennis, Huntsville; two grandchildren, Roberta Ann and Charles Bradlee Baker, La Mirada, California; one brother, Joe Baker, Huntsville; and one sister, Mrs. Charles Noel (Tilda) King, Yakima, Washington.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 22, at 10 o'clock a.m. at the Bruce Brashears Memorial Chapel with Rev. Carl Nelson and Rev. Sam Dunham officiating.

Burial was in the Huntsville Cemetery under the direction of Brashears.

Active pallbearers were Eddie Markley, Glen Faulkner, J. B. Parker, Glynn Dillahunty, X Dotson and Leonard Stansell. Honorary pallbearers were Dave Thornberry, Floyd Sisk, Everett Rice, Bob Gage, Carl Brown, Troy Dennis and Lem Jones.

Memorial may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church.
