Hiram was out bear hunting when one of his dogs got in a fight with a bear. Hiram saved the dog but the dog later went mad and bito hold him down when he went mad himself and towards the end he was chained to a tree to keep him away from everyone else until he died.

Hiram died of I nfectious Hydrophhobia (rabies)
