Daughter of Frederick and Marie (Luthold) Barth.
With family, moved to Amherst, Neb., 1921; graduated from Amherst High School, 1930; attended Kearney State Teachers' College.
Taught in country schools in Kearney area until 1934
Married: Oct. 6, 1934, to Herbert Saathoff
Lived in Miller, Neb., until 1942; lived in the Midwest; retired and moved to Riverton, Wyo. in 1973
Activities: the Community Church, Rebekah Lodge, Friendship Club and a bridge club, also a substitute teacher while in Midwest;
In Riverton: member of the church; chairman of the board of the Riverton Senior Center; member of the Rebekah Lodge where she was Past Noble Grand, the hospital auxiliary, the Extension Club, a bridge club and the Historical Society; enjoyed playing bridge and taught duplicate and beginning bridge lessons; received the Outstanding Senior Citizen Award in 1990 from the Wyoming Commission on Aging. Received the Colonel's Way Award.
Survivors include: sons, Douglas of Brighton, Colo., and Gordon of Buffalo; sisters, Ann Fisher of Amherst and Sylvia Byers of Plymouth, Mich.; six grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her husband, three brothers and a siste.r
