Levis R. Simmons, 53, of 317 1/2 W. Lemon St., died Thursday at his home. He had been under the care of a physician.
Born in Lancaster, he was a son of the late Charles R. and Theresa Simmons and the husband of the late Gertrude Reese Simmons, who died in May 1969. Until four years ago, he was employed as a cab driver by the Neff Cab Co. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Army.
Survivors include seven step-children: Dorothy A., wife of Franklin H. Ott; Marian J., wife of William C. Hess, and Anthony D. Vital, all of Lancaster; Gertrude R. Scott, Pompano Beach, Fla., and James R. Vital and Daniel P. and David M. Vitale, all of Lancaster.
Other survivors include 26 step-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren.
Services from Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home, 414 E. King St., Lancaster on Friday, Dec 4 at 10 am, the Rev. John F. Lose officiating. Interment in the Conestoga Memorial Park.
