Frederick Skinner, or "Gov" as his family and friends called him, was a veteran of WWII, having served in the U.S. Navy as a Sonarman above the U.S.S. McCall ("Mighty Mac")
After the war, Fred attended college at Missouri Valley college in Marshall, Missouri, where he was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame in 2001 for his accomplishments in football, as well as appearing in the 1949-1950 edition of "Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges."
"Gov" followed his father into the field of dentistry, which he practiced for some time until he furthered his education and career by returning to school and becoming a maxillo-facial prosthodontist. He earned a Fellowship from the American College of Prosthodontics, as well as his Diplomate from the American Board of Prosthodontics. At the time of his death, "Gov" had worked for the V.A. in Atlanta, GA. for over 40 years in the same capacity. Fred taught part time at Emory University School of Dentistry, as well as attaining the rank of Colonel in the U.A. Army Reserves Dental Corps.
In 1952, Fred married Marjorie Pearce Earle, and together they adopted two children; Guy and Sue Ellen "Susie" Skinner.
Fred is remembered for his sense of humor and generosity, and is dearly missed.
