Alson was the son of Calvin Homer Dray and Mary Adelaide Ford. He married Clarinda Florence Hoggatt 7-26-1891 in Kalama, WA. They had 2 sons; Ralph and Fred. Clarinda died when Fred was 1 week old. The boys were raised by her parents, Andrew J. and Mary A. Hoggatt. After Alson's death, the boys were adopted by the grandparents, thereby changing the surname to Hoggatt.
