Otis Edgar Witherell

Otis Edgar Witherell, 79, of Ephraim, died Tuesday at the Utah Valley Hospital of causes incident to age.

He was born in Van Etten, New York, on February 12, 1894 to Henry Edgar and Elizabeth Ann Brown Witherell. He was a brother to A. E. Witherell, Provo.

He married Parna Trilba Dudley in 1913 in Jensen, Uintah County and she died January 3, 1945. He married Gladys DeLong in January, 1948 and she died in 1969.

Mr. Witherell was a retired cook and chicken farmer. He moved to Utah in 1942. He received his early education in New York, later moving to Oklahoma where he was employed as a cook and carpenter.

He moved to Meeker, Colorado, where he was a cook. He then moved to Salt Lake City where he operated a chicken farm. He later moved to Ephraim where he continued to farm. He loved hunting.

Survivors include two sons and three daughters, Carl D. Witherell, Pueblo, Colorado; Velman B. Witherell and Mrs. Elvin G. (Viola) Castle, both of Denver; Mrs. Stella Cotten, Ephraim and Mrs. Clyde C. (Ella) Strode, Hesporia, California; two brothers, A. E. Witherell, Provo and Carroll B. Witherell, Pineville, La,; 20 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Friday at 9:30 a.m. in the Berg Mortuary in Provo where friends may call Friday prior to services. Burial will be in the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
