NEWTON C BETTS--80: died Thursday [7-24] at home in Meadville after an illness of several months. MrBetts retired from the Erie Railroad 7yrs ago after a 39yr service record. He was active in the Erie RR Veterans Assn; a charter member of the local Loyal Order of Moose & a member of ParkAve Congregational Church. He & his wife celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary 3yrs ago.
Surviving are his widow Adelaide & 7 children: MrsFred Feltmeyer-Erie; MrsDeAlton Brown-Bliss NY; MrsAnthony Clemens; MrsGeo Carner; Walter Betts-all Detroit MI; MrsEdith DuChanois; MrsGeo Nageotte-both Meadvl; 2 bros: Leslie & Grant Betts-both Jamestwn PA; 12 grandchildren & 8 gr grandchildren.
