Arvel was married to Hazel Carter and had four children, one was a baby that passed at 2 days old. He was a road maker and carved out many roads in the ozarks which are still used to this day. He drove a big caterpillar tractor for his job. He was in the Civilian conservation corps CCC during the depression. He always wore rail road stripe overalls and had a twin brother named Arley.
