He was born May 4, 1901 in Appleton, the son of the late Carl and Johanna (Dettmann) Holtz.
On October 12, 1921 Carl was united in marriage to Clara Erickson in Appleton. She survives.
In addition to his wife, survivors include four daughters, Alice (Larry) Lund, Schofield, Dorothy (Laurence) Fischer, Birnamwood, Gladys (Donald) Bachman, Hortonville and Marian (Arvin) Schrank, Shawano; one son, Carl Holtz, Milwaukee; one sister, Elsie (Hugo) Warning, Menasha; 17 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held February 2, 1972 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Birnamwood. The Rev. Richard Borchers officiated. Interment was in Hillcrest Cemetery, town of Norrie.
