Kathy Quest Hunnicutt died peacefully on Monday, Oct. 6, 2008. She was born on Sept. 18, 1950, in Lubbock. She was preceded in death by her mother, the late Katherine Quest and niece, the late Rachel Quest. She is survived by her father, Ralph "Sleepy" Quest; brother, Ralph Quest II and wife Cathy; brother, Ronnie Quest and wife Jaime; son, Heron Fletcher Dunson; husband, J.P. "Hap" Hunnicutt III; nephews, Justin Quest and Rafe Quest; and niece, Jennifer Kautsch. The Quest family members are lovers of life and Kathy was no different. Only after a lengthy battle with cancer did the life in Kathy play out.

Kathy was a wife, mother, daughter, sister and best friend. Kathy was around cowboys all of her life, but it wasn't until late in her life that she finally met the one, Hap, that she wanted to marry. She loved participating with Hap in the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo activities. She loved her son Fletcher. She was a "Team Mom" extraordinaire. She never missed a game in her son's baseball career which ended at Texas Tech University. Fletcher's team mates all knew they were always welcome at Kathy's house.

Kathy loved decorating homes, trips to Round Top for the festival, and traveling with her friends. She loved Lake McQueeney and Italy's Lake Como. Dinners at the lodge and cruises up the river were always part of the plan.

Kathy wanted to especially thank physician Dr. Kirk Heine the nurses and PCA's on the 20th floor oncology unit at St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital for their love and care. Kathy will always be remembered for her grace and beauty but the only thing she wished to be remembered for is how much she loved her friends, family and especially her son Fletcher and husband Hap. In a final act of giving Kathy donated her body for medical research.
