Herrons Honored On Wedding Date CANAJOHARIE — Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Herron. Canajoharie, were entertained by their family Sunday afternoon at the Fort Rensselaer Club in honor of their 50th wedding anniversary. The former Miss Helen Fellows and Ralph Herron were married June 18. 1911, at the Lutheran Church in Richmondville by the Rev. D. I. Putman, and were attended by the late Mr. and Mrs. Russell Rechtmeyer. Mr. and Mrs. Herron lived in the Cobleskill area before coming to the Canajoharie area several years ago. Mr. Herron was employed in the printing dept. of Beech-Nut Life Savers for a number of years prior to his retirement four years ago. They are members of St. Mark's Lutheran Church and are both active in church and community affairs. Presently the couple are in charge of Wintergreen Park, Canajoharie, and during the summer months reside in the caretaker's cabin at park. Mrs. Herron also assists in the Canajoharie branch of the Montgomery County Laboratory. The couple were once stewards at the Fort Rensselaer Cub. The honored couple have five children: Mrs. Clarence Bernstein and Mrs. Walter Yerdon, Canajoharie; Franklyn and Charles Herron, Mapletown; Mrs. Louis Rivenburgh. Central Bridge; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. During the open house program, a buffet luncheon was served with the honored guests' table being centered by a large tiered wedding cake and two smaller cakes, all in honor of the golden anniversary. The couple received a large number of gifts from their family and many friends. Guests attended from Cobleskill, Richmondville. Central Bridge, Catskill, Ames. Fort Plain, Cherry Valley, Nelliston, New York City and Canajoharie.

Mrs. Helen Marie Herron, 84, died Friday at the Eden Park Nursing Home in Cobleskill after a long illness. Bom on Dec. 2, 1892, in Warnersville, she was the daughter of Lorenzo and Alice Terrell Fellows. She was a resident of the Canajoharie area for many years and a member of St. John's and St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Canajoharie. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Clifford Azer, Canajoharie RD 1, Mrs. Lewis Rivenburgh, Central Bridge, and Mrs. Walter Yerdon, Canajoharie; two sons, Charles, Canajoharie and Franklin, Canajoharie RD 1; 18 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and cousins. The funeral was held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the Houghtaling Funeral Home with the Rev. Theodore Hammer officiating.
