Son of the late Albert Cartwright Credle and Sally Mary Gibbs, he was the widower of Virginia Jennette (married on July 1, 1945). She died on October 28, 2005. He was a barber at the West Main Barber Shop in Washington. He was a graduate of Swan Quarter High School and he served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was a member of Second Baptist Church in Washington. In his retirement, he was an avid traveler by RV. He was survived by his daughters, Elaine Pearce (David) and Corky House (Larry); two grandchildren, Tammy Norman (Kevin) and Byrce Herbert (Shani); two great-grandchildren, Jake Norman and Cody Norman; and an extended family of relatives. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two sister, Thelma Fulford and Edith Best; and by a brother, Sidney Credle. His funerral was held May 1, 2010, with The Rev. Scott Setzer officiating.
