Jesse Ray Dake, 66, died Sunday, June 8, in a Cherokee hospital after a brief illness. He was born 8/3/1902 at Norman, OK. At the age of 16, he moved, with his parents, to the vicinity of Tuttle, where he lived until 1941. While living in Tuttle, he worked with the Sowers funeral home and at Reeders grocery. In 1942, he was employed with the Safeway stores. He worked in several locations with Safeway and retired 10/26/1967 at Cherokee, where he lived at the time of his death. Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 10, in the Furst United Methodist church, Cherokee. Rev M. Carl Cartwright officiated. Graveside services were at 4pm in the Fairview cemetery, Tuttle. He and Francis Janssen were married 3/28/1934. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother. Dake was a member of the First United Methodist church. He is survived by his wife, Francis, 1 son, Ramon Keith of Ponca City, a daughter-in-law, Barbara, 3 grandsons, Bryan, Jeff, & Jon, 1 granddaughter, Kathy, 1 sister, Thelma Cherry of Tuttle, 1 brother, George Vernon of Lapvate, Calif, and several nieces and nephews.
