Son of Solomon and Lucy (Morley) Loveland. Husband of Lucy (Catlin) Loveland, whom he married on July 14, 1799 in Pompey, New York. They moved to Ashtabula in 1812 where he was a Justice of the Peace for 8 years. He was the father of George Catlin, Henry, Laura, Emily, Lucy, James, Sarah (Sally), Hiram, Joab, Orrin Fisk, Mary Elizabeth, John, Julia Ann, Harriet M., and Kate (Emily Catharine).
