Texas City--Mrs. Lela Newton Jorstad passed from this life Sat. morning at Avalon Place Nursing Home in Texas City, while in her 86th year.
Born Oct. 2, 1907 in Hackberry, LA. Mrs. Jorstad had been a resident of Santa Fe since 1982, formerly of Texas City. She was a homemaker and a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses church in Hitchcock.
Mrs. Jorstad was preceeded in death by her daughter, Patsy Ruth LaVergne of Lake Charles, LA.
Survivors include her husband Leon Jorstad, Sr. of Santa Fe; sons Norman Stine of Vinton, LA., Buddy Jorstad of Strasburg, Ohio, daughters Miki LaFleur of Galveston, Bootsie LeGros of Santa Fe, Doris Nidiffer of Santa Fe; brothers James Newton of Hemphill, TX., Asa Newton of Lake Charles, LA., Fred Newton of Columbus, Ohio; sisters Mabel Moss of Lake Charles, LA., June Hamilton of Orange; 17
grandchildren; 34 Great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 10 a.m. Mon. in the Chapel of Hayes Funeral Home with the Rev. John Wilds officiating. Interment will follow at Grace Memorial Park Cemetery.
