Lester M. Houk was the son of Daniel Houk (1847-1908) and Arilla Kiney Houk. He married Gladys Paff Houk (1893-1971). She was the daughter of George W. Paff (1849-1917) and Mary Carnes Paff (1856-1941).

On last Saturday the report came to relatives that Lester Houk, who recently moved to near Hicksville, had been found dead at his home.
About two months ago Mr. Houk, who was born and reared on a farm three miles west of town, moved to Hicksville. He had recovered from the "flu," leaving his heart weak, which was the cause of his death.
He leaves his wife, two daughters and one son. His mother, Mrs, Daniel Houk; one sister and one brother survive.
The funeral was held from the Lutheran church at this place. Rev. A. K. Mumma officiating, assisted by Rev. Linstrom. Interment at the White City cemetery.
