Calvin Shaw Chandler, 71, died Saturday, May 26, 1990 in an Ogden Hospital of cancer.


Born October 2, 1918 in North Ogden, son of Calvin Harris and Della Luella Shaw Chandler.


Married Adele Hughes on October 18, 1946 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Attended school in the Ogden area, graduated from the U of U in 1946. Served in the Army Finance Corp, WW II, discharged as a Captain. Professionally, Mr. Chandler was an accountant and had been coowner of Wangsgards Super Market in Ogden for many years. Held many positions in the LDS Church, High Counselor and Bishop of the North Ogden 6Sixth Ward. He served his community as member of many city and county boards and committees. He was a North Ogden City Councilman and served as mayor.


Survived by wife, Ogden; four daughters and son, Carole (Glenn) Lowe Vittuci, of Victor, Idaho; Barbara (Doug) Christensen, North Ogden; Katie (Ralph) Jaggi, Wellsville; C. Mark (Lisa) Chandler, Ogden; Mary (Danny) Christensen, Meadow; fourteen grandchildren; four sisters and brother, Muriel Keep, Ogden; Joseph L. Chandler; Ruth Garbett; Jean Christensen, all Salt Lake City; Shirley Welch, Bountiful. Preceded in death by brothers, Harvey L. and Charles E. Chandler.


Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday in the North Ogden Sixth Ward Chapel, 3100 North 575 East. Friends may call at Lindquist's North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 North Washington Boulevard, on Monday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and at the Church on Tuesday from 9:45-10:45 a.m.
Interment: North Ogden Cemetery.
