He was a party of 600 gunners who were massacared on the Island of Ballale by the Japanese in 1943. His remains were exhumed from a mass grave by the Australian war commision in 1946 and buried with honours at Bomana cemetery in Papua new guinea. Also can be seen at the Singapore war memorial, and in the Java Index.
