Philip George "Phil" Super, 81, of Cloquet, Minnesota, died Friday, Feb. 26, 1999, in St. Mary's Medical Center, Duluth.

He was born Feb. 2, 1918, in Flensburg, Minn., the son of Michael and Katherine (Maciej) Super. He married Amelia Anna Trettel Sept. 2, 1941, in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Flensburg.

He was a World War II veteran who served in the U.S. Army from Feb. 10, 1942 to Nov. 8, 1945. He farmed in Flensburg from 1945 until April 1956 when he began working at Northwest Paper, now Potlatch Corp. until retirement.

Philip loved fishing, hunting and spent many enjoyable hours rolling logs with his grandsons at their sawmill.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter; five brothers and five sisters.

Philip is survived by his wife of 57 years, Amelia of Cloquet; his children, Mary (Nickolas) Blesener of Cloquet, Sharon (Lynn) Erickson of Carlton and Dennis (Kathie) of Traverse City, Mich.; five grandchildren; four step-grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; brothers Peter of Isanti, Mich., and Tom of Little Falls, Minn.; and sisters Pauline Head of Flensburg and Genevieve Zilka of Long Prairie, Minn.
