Captured by the Union on 25 November 1863 in Cleveland, Bradley, Tennessee (Missionary Ridge). Forwarded to Louisville Military Prison on 7 December 1863. Transferred from the military prison in Louisville, Kentucky to Rock Island, Illinois on 9 December 1863 and died of variola (small pox) on 23 February 1864.
