Alan Wayne Caperton was born to Helen Vivian Sharp and Alfred Lee Caperton on July 7, 1951. He graduated from Rogers High School in Tulsa in 1968 and attended two years at Oklahoma State University where he majored in broadcasting. He worked for television and radio stations in Arkansas and Texas before returning to Oklahoma. Alan Caperton was the father of three children: Alex, Mason, and Olivia. At the time of his death, he was married to Susan Walker and had worked for 13 years as a production manager and as the on-air personality, "Rick Alan West," for Clear Channel Communications. Alan's cremated ashes are buried near his father's grave at Memorial Park Cemetery in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
