Dora Belle Mayo was born August 25, 1900 at Tioga,Grayson Co. Texas; one of twelve children to James William Mayo and Mary May Shelton. Her ancestors came from Ireland. She moved with her family to Odell, Texas in 1906. She finished school at Jackson Springs and taught two years at Crescent Cove in Wilbarger County.

Charlie and Dora were married in Odell,Texas July 3, 1920 at Her family's home. They farmed at Wellington until 1925.

Ten children were born to this union.
