On 3 October 1971, Elsa died in Queens, New York City. A doctor friend arranged for her cremation and had the ashes sent to the Tegeler Funeral Home in Damascus, Wayne County, Pennsylvania. Mr. Tegeler waited several years, but no one claimed them, so he personally buried them in or near the Kopp Family Plot in the Damascus Hillside Cemetery.
