VELVA V. HENSLEY HESSVILLE, IN Velva V. Hensley born in Lowell, IN, who was 100 years, 6 months and 18 days old, of Hessville, passed away Tuesday, March 2, 2010, in Florida where she was a winter resident. She is survived by daughters: Gertrude Ann (late Gene) Kingston and Mary (late Charles) Dooley, both of Highland; sons: Jerry (Eileen) of Highland and Doug of Schererville; sister, Virgene (Al) Scolnik of Munster; grandchildren: Michael (Karen) Kingston, Pam (Tom) Wade, Tom (Linda) Kingston, Don Kingston, Mary (John) Tomczak, Sean (Tara) Kingston, Carri (William) Cole, David Hensley, Diane Hensley, Kelly Hensley, Carol Schaap, Craig (Karen) Dooley, Sharon Dooley, and Dan Hensley; twenty-five great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; and special nieces: Judy Hensley and Janet Simon. Velva was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Fred F. Hensley, Sr.; son, Fred F. Hensley, Jr.; father, Emil Domke; mother, Gertrude Linsenmann; sisters: Evelyn Curtis of CO, and Betty Markwood Koch of Hammond and brother, Richard Linsenmann of Fort Wayne. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, March 8, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady Of Perpetual Help, 7132 Arizona, Hammond, IN with Fr. Charles Mosley officiating. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, March 7, 2010 from 2:00-7:00 p.m. at Burns-Kish Funeral Home, 8415 Calumet Ave., Munster, IN with a prayer service at 3:00 p.m. and Monday from 9:00- 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady Of Perpetual Help. Always ready for a pinochle game, she was a long time employee and retiree of Goldblatt's women's sportswear department. She always had a good word for everyone and everyone loved her and being in her company. She had many loving cousins, nieces, nephews and friends and all their families. She had a 100th birthday party in August 2009 that was attended by 170 of her family and friends. She also was a long time member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church and longtime Hessville resident. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Share Foundation, or Juvenile Diabetes Assoc. in her memory. www.burnskish.com.
