While a little girl, the parents moved to town of Greenfield, Sauk County. This was her home until November 4, 1890, when she was united in marriage with August Mielke. Following the marriage, they moved to town of Caledonia. Here a home was established, and they were affiliated with St. Paul's Lutheran church of that community. Mr. Mielke was called out of this life on September 23, 1940. Not long after, Mrs. Mielke made her home with her son, Julius, in the town of Lewiston, and spent the remaining years of her life in that home. There she became a member of St. Paul's Lutheran church in the town of Lewiston. In spite of her advanced age, she nevertheless gained many friends in her new surroundings. Friends appreciated her keen sense of humor, and the advice frequently given to relatives and acquaintances.
Mrs. Mielke was the mother of 7 children-one of whom, a daughter, Mrs. Agnes Genrich, preceded her mother in death on April 30, 1920.
Surviving are 3 daughters: Mrs. Elsa Schutz, town of Lewiston; Mrs. Edna Anderson, town of Newport: and Mrs. Clara Genrich, town of Fort Winnebago; three sons: Julius Mielke, town of Lewiston; and Clarence and Frederick both of Caledonia; 15 greandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Emma Kasdorf, town of Excelsior, one brother Wm. Verch, Okee; three half-brothers: George Verch, Chicago, and Frank and Alex of Baraboo; and two half sisters; Mrs. Rose Brownrigg of Lodi, Wis., and Mrs. Anna Butterfield of Baraboo.
Funeral services were conducted by her pastor, Rev. E. Smukal, on Saturday, March 13th, in St Pauls's Evangelical Lutheran church. The words of comfort were based on Philippians 1:23. Mrs. G Stickfdort presided at the organ and rendered the vocal selections.
The pallbearers were Ross Genrich, Harlan Genrich, Vera Genrich, Clarence Anderson, Keith Genrich and Kenneth Schutz.
The remains were interred at St. Paul's Lutheran cemetery in the town of Caledonia.
