Obit: Rev. Virgil Bailey, age 84 of Suwanee, died Tuesday,June 3, 1997. He was born in Gwinnett County where he had lived all his life. In 1935 he was saved and joined Old Field Baptist Church (now Peachtree Road Baptist Church) and he was the oldest acitive member. He was a minister, deacon, and devoted Christian. Mr. Bailey has been in the Automotive Machine Business in Lawrenceville since 1948 and was co-owner with his son Ray of Bailey's Machine Shop from 1963 until his retirement in l991. Survivors include: daughters and sons-in-law, Faye & William Cook and Sheila & Thomas Holder; sons and daughters-in-law, Ray & Paulette Bailey, Darrell Bailey, Gerald & Janice Bailey, Paul & Edwina Bailey; 18 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 6, l997 at 2:00 pm in the Peachtree Road Baptist Church, with Rev. Preston Moore and Rev David Bailey, a grandson, officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery with Dr. Curtis Henry conducting the graveside rites.
