Louis Long was a wheelwright and a rancher/farmer before he studied to become a doctor. He owned & ran a pharmacy/drug store in Ponca City, NE, moving to Waverly, NE & then Lincoln, NE to set up his practice. He married Mary Ellen Keedy on 15 Sep. 1885 in Auburn, NE. Louis & Mary Ellen had three children, Louis Charles, Mabelle Virginia, & Elmo Thomas. He was a member of the Masons. The Longs had known the Keedys in Maryland before they all moved to NE.
