He was born September 13, 1916 in Ely to Frank and Mary (Omerza) Shober.
On September 25, 1946, he married Sophie Landa. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Tony was a retired member of International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 49 and worked for various contractors throughout the area. He loved to fish, hunt and tend his garden. He was an avid Twins fan and a lover of polka music. Tony was a life long resident of Ely and never wanted to be anywhere else.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Frank and John; and sisters, Mary Tekavec, Frances Holoway, Julie Kastelic, Ann Gotchnik and Angela Zobitz.
Tony is survived by his wife, Sophie; daughter, Diane (Robert) Horvat; son, Jim (Linda) Shober; grandchildren: Lance (Amanda) Horvat, Alyssa (Jeremy) Hoover, and Lynnea Rose Shober; sister, Molly Velcheff; many nieces and nephews.
