Funeral services for Nicholas J. "Nick" Battaglia, of Brookhaven, are 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 17, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, with burial in Catholic Cemetery. Harrigill Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

     Visitation is Thursday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home, with rosary at 7 p.m.

     Mr. Battaglia, 86, died Feb. 13, 2012, at his home. He was born in Brookhaven on April 12, 1925, to Santo Battaglia and Antonia Lapiparo.

     He was a technician, worked for the Potter Company and retired from St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, where he was a member. Mr. Battaglia was a World War II U.S. Army Veteran.

     Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Jean Mizzelle Battaglia; two brothers; and one sister.

     Survivors are his son, Johnny P. Battaglia, of Louisiana; daughter, Gloria Leggett, of Brookhaven; five grandchildren, Kenneth Barr, of Brookhaven, John Barr, of Saucier, Kayla Moak, of Brookhaven, Michelle Battaglia and Bobby Battaglia; 9 great-grandchildren; nephew, Edward "Sonny" Marx; and niece, Annette Picconi.
