June 30, 1939 - Oct. 23, 2007 William Allen Polsgrove Jr., 68, Kokomo, died at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2007, at the Seton Specialty Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born June 30, 1939, in Campbell, Mo., to William A. Polsgrove Sr. and Lucile (Case) Polsgrove. On Dec. 24, 1967, in Kokomo, he married Mary Jane Edson and she survives. Mr. Polsgrove was a graduate of Will Rogers High School, Tulsa, Okla., and the University of Oklahoma, Norman, Okla. He was a Lieutenant Colonel, USAF, retired, having served 37 years in the military. He served at DaNang Air Base, Vietnam; Offutt AFB, Neb., and Elmendorf AFB, Ala., as well as the Oklahoma National Guard, Indiana National Guard and Air Force Reserves. For the past 11 years, he worked as the Howard County Veterans Service Officer assisting other veterans with their benefits. He enjoyed traveling, his pets and his home. He was active in Kokomo Noon Lions Club having served in all offices, VFW Post 1152, American Legion Post 6, Veterans Council, Voture Nationale Cabane 1109, Indiana Veterans Service Officer Association and the Grissom Community Council. In addition to his wife, Mary Jane Polsgrove, survivors include sisters, Joan Sparwasser, Norman, Okla., Pamela DeLauriers and husband Richard, Bakersfield, Calif.; brother, Peter Polsgrove, Flagstaff, Ariz.; mother-in-law, Clarabelle Edson, Kokomo; sister-in-law, Roseann Summe, Indianapolis; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Patricia Knittel. Funeral services are 11 a.m. Saturday at the Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer, 705 E. Southway Blvd., with the Rev. Bill Allison officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery with military rites provided by the VFW military rites team and the U.S. Air Force. Friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m. on Friday at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home, Lincoln Road Chapel, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, and one hour before the service at the church on Saturday. Memorial contributions may be made to Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer Memorial Fund or Indiana Lions Eye and Tissue Bank, or American Cancer Society with envelopes available at the funeral home and the church.
