Jeanette L. Areia passed away May 1, 2010 at the age of 38 years old. She was born June 22, 1971 in Auburn, Calif. She graduated from Placer High School, Auburn, Calif., in 1989. She received her Associate of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Sierra College, Rocklin, Calif. She continued her Criminal Justice education with a Bachelor of Science Degree from CSUS. Furthering her education she acquired a Master's Degree in Public Administration from Golden Gate University in Sacramento on June 4, 2005. Currently she was in her third year of pursuing her Law Degree at Lincoln Law School in Sacramento, Calif.
Jeanette was a police officer for Sacramento Police Department from November 4, 1994 until May 31, 2003, when she was medically retired from the department due to an injury. She currently was working for Heald Business College in Rancho Cordova as the director of the Criminal Justice and Paralegal Departments.
Preceded in death by grandfather, Bert W. Areia; grandmother, Josephine M. Areia
and grandfather, Robert E. Brownlee. Survived by her grandmother, Bertha M. Brownlee; step-grandmother, Jaenne Brownlee; father Jody F. Areia; mother and step-father, Kathy and Tim Braaten; brother and sister-in-law, Kevin and Stefanie Areia; sister, Brianna Areia; nephew, Riley Clark; niece, Taylor Areia; several aunts and uncles as well as numerous cousins and very close friends. Also, her beloved cockers spaniels, Chase and Teva.
Jeanette was a unique, loving and giving person who touched many lives during her short life. She has a love of travel, with Hawaii being her favorite destination. Her laugh and smile were contagious and she will be greatly missed by all.
A memorial service will be held for family and friends May 7, 2010 at 1 p.m. at Lassila Funeral Chapel located at 551 Grass Valley Highway, Auburn, CA.
