Lander G. "Bill" Williamson, 89, of Scottsbluff, Neb., and for merly of Sterling, died April 6, 2003, in Scottsbluff. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. April 10 at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Scottsbluff, with Father James O'Kane officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Sterling at 3 p.m. April 10. Mr. Williamson was born July 4, 1913, to Gilbert and Elsie (Griffith) Williamson in Parker, Kan. He graduated from Florence (Kan.) High School and attended Salt City Business School in Hutchinson, Kan., for two years. He worked for EW Woolworth Co. from 1935 to 1943 at stores in Kansas and Colorado, before managing a store in Missoula, Mont.
Mr. Williamson married his first wife, Gertrude, on June 23,1940, in Sterling. She died in June of 1964.
On Feb. 9, 1968, he married Elsie Whitman in Scottsbluff.
In 1945, he began working for Rominger Jewelry Co. in Sterling, and from 1961 to 1985 managed Rominger's stores in Scottsbluff. He was vice president and treasurer of Thiele Jewelers Inc. of Alliance, Neb., from 1985 until he retired in 1990. Mr. Wiffiamson was a life member of the Elks, a member of the Knights of Columbus, served as
commander of American Legion Post 20 in Sterling in the 1950s, and was a charter member of the evening Lions Club in Scottsbluff. He is survived by wife Elsie, Scottsbluff; daughters Joyce Ballas and husband Ron, Sterling, and Florence ‘Flo' McKieman and husband Dan, Colorado Springs; step-daughter Gloria Parks, Key West, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife Gertrude; son Gilbert, sister Ruth Murphy; and great-grandson Robert Gravitt.
Memorials can be made to Prairie Haven Hospice, the Evening Lions Club of Scottsbluff, or to the St. Agnes School.
