Born in Rumsey, Kentucky, Eddie was raised and educated in Tokyo, Oklahoma City and was a 1963 graduate of Choctawhatchee High School. After High School, Mr. Abney attended and graduated from Florida State University. He later entered the U. S. Air Force and retired as a Lt. Col, after 20 years of service. Eddie had most recently served as CEO of the Emerald Coast Association of Realtors.
He is survived by his wife of 8 years, Nannette M. Abney of Crestview, his parents; Kenneth Lee Abney and Kathryn Abney of Fort Walton Beach, his step-son; Alan Piklor and his wife Amy, of Coral Springs, FL, 2 grandchildren; Jake and Claire, and his sister; Sheila Thomson of Colorado Springs, CO.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 2, 2009 from 5-7 PM, at Emerald Coast Funeral Home, 113 Racetrack Road, N. E., Fort Walton Beach, FL
Funeral Services with Full Military Honors will be at the Funeral Home on Wednesday, at 10 AM. Burial will be private
