PANHANDLE - Samuel Leroy "Roy" Barkley, 67, died Wednesday in Amarillo.

Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Panhandle Cemetery with Mr. Tommie Anderson, minister of the Seminole Church of Christ in Amarillo, officiating.

Burial will be by Smith Funeral Directors.

Mr. Barkley was born March 19, 1916 in Quinlan, Okla., and moved to Panhandle as a small boy. He served in the U.S. Air Ford in World War II. He lived in Borger several years before moving to Amarillo.

Mr. Barkley was a retired carpenter, and was a member of Carpenter's Union 665, and the North Seminole Church of Christ.

He married Verna Williams in Borger in 1951.

Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Barbara Cranfill of Amarillo; two brothers, R.E. of Groom, and Tom of Claude; one sister; Dorothy Williams of Panhandle; and three grandchildren.
