"George F. Lake, Sr., 64, of Savannah, GA, formerly of Brick Township, died Sunday at home. Born in Weehawken Township, he lived in Brick for many years before moving to Savannah three weeks ago. Mr. Lake was a tug boat captain for Great Lakes Dredge and Dock Co., New York, for 28 years, retiring last year. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, retiring from the reserves after 20 years. Mr. Lake was a communicant of the Visitation Roman Catholic Church; a member of Lodge 836, Knights of Columbus; Veterans of Foreign Wars; and the American Legion, all Brick.
Surviving are his former wife, Audrey Dorsey Lake, Tempe, AZ; two sons, George F. Jr., Brick and James J., with whom he lived; two daughters, Kathleen A., Tempe, AZ and Jo-Anne P. Williams, Newport, RI; a brother, Joseph L., Weehawken, NJ; and a grandson. Fox & Weeks Funeral Home, is in charge of arrangements."
