Pioneer Resident of County Dies.

Lula Gaines Honaker, 71(sic) year old early settler of Wilbarger County died at her home Wednesday, 9 August, 1950 at her home at 2102 Deaf Smith following an illness of one week. Funeral services will be held at 3 P.M. Thursday in the Underwood Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. E. S. James officiating.

Mrs. Honaker was born 25 Oct, 1870 in Bonham, Fannin county, Texas and came to Wilbarger and settled in Odell in 1903. She moved to Vernon in 1911 and lived here until her death. Mrs. Honaker was a member of the First Baptist Church in Vernon and a member of the Rebekah Lodge.

Survivors include a daughter, Ella Robinson Kays, 1610 Lexington in Vernon; two sisters, Callie Brodes of Oklahoma City and Savanah Kester of Vernon; one brother, Bacon Merideth of California. Mrs. Honaker is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Burial will be in Eastview Memorial Park under the direction of Underwood Funeral Home.
