Clarence McDonald

Clarence E. "Sleep" McDonald, 72, of 1022 Center St. In Seymour died at 6:40 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9, at Jackson County Hospital at Seymour. He had been ill four months.

Funeral was Friday, Feb. 11, at the Voss Funeral Home at Seymour with the Revs. Dennis and Dewey Allman officiating. Burial was at Cana Cemetery east of Uniontown.

A member of the Christ Temple Apostolic Church at Seymour, McDonald had retired from Excello Shirt Factory in 1973 after 38 years of service.

The lifelong Jackson County resident was born Sept. 15, 1910, in Seymour to the late Joseph and Vesie Jackson McDonald. He married the former Pauline Banks in Seymour on Jan. 7, 1939, and she survives.

Also surviving are four children, Gary B. and William J. McDonald, both of Seymour; Mrs. Roger (Sharon) Simmons of North Vernon and Mrs. Norman (Maciva) Chancy of Shelbyville; 12 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Four brothers and a sister surviving are Milton, Roy, Shirley and Harold McDonald and Mrs.(Lois)Payne, all of Seymour.

The family requested that memorials be in the form of donations to the Jackson County Chapter of the American Cancer Society.
